Eve Ensler wrote the first draft of the monologues in 1996 (there have been several revisions since) following interviews she conducted with 200 women about their views on sex, relationships, and violenceagainst\u00a0women.<\/p>

The interviews began as casual conversations with her friends, who then brought up anecdotes they themselves had been told by other friends; this began a continuing chain of\u00a0referrals.<\/p>

In an interview with Women.com, Ensler said that her fascination with Vaginas began \u201cbecause of growing up in a violent society\u201d. \u201cWomen\u2019s empowerment is deeply connected to their sexuality.\u201d She also stated, \u201cI\u2019m obsessed with women being violated and raped, and with incest. All of these things are deeply connected to our\u00a0vaginas.\u201d<\/p>

The monologues were presented in accordance with the wishes of Eve Ensler, just as they were on Broadway and the West End stage. They may have also make you laugh and cry, but most of all they \u00a0probably changed the way you think of Vaginas forever, I certainly\u00a0have.<\/p>

CODS were very pleased to present the Vagina Monologues as part of the 2017 Crediton\u00a0Festival.<\/p>

The performances were much appreciated by the audiences and it was good to work in a different venue, namely the Crediton Arts Centre.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
